LEITER'S Goes Green, Recent News Releases Links to Recent News Releases: SJ Mercury News: At last, a home for unwanted drugs Leiter's Pharmacy now accepts unused medication (prescription and over-the-counter) for proper disposal. When we throw medications down sinks, in toilets or in the trash, they enter the water supply and cannot be filtered out. Low concentrations of pharmaceutical contaminants were found in 80 percent of 139 streams sampled in 30 states, according to studies from 1999 and 2000 by the US Geological survey. We have decided to provide this ecological drug disposal program as a service to the community to protect our water supply. Medication can be dropped off at Leiter's Pharmacy in the secure green bin near the pharmacy counter during store hours, Monday through Friday 9:00am-6:30pm, Saturday 9-6pm. We are unable to accept needles, syringes, inhalers and controlled substances. If you have any questions, please call the pharmacy at (408) 292-6772 ext 18 and ask for Robyn.
